Habit Perennial, rhizomatous, stout, erect, 1-3 m height, 1-2 diameter and base pith with a sugary juice, nodes and internodes quite distinct.
Inflorescence Panicles-large, loose with whorl of spreading branching, spikelets in groups of 3, central one sessile and fertile, seed- 2.5 mm long, oval reddish brown in colour.
